Date Night

T and I are going on a date in a couple of weeks.  We are so past due for a date night it isn’t funny.  We (more like I) have been stuck in the rut of day-to-day life for a while now and we need to get out just by ourselves.  We need to reconnect and enjoy each other’s company again.  My task now is to find somewhere to go for dinner.  T and I love food, all food, everything about food.  Our problem though is that where we live it’s all the same type of restaurant.  When new restaurants open in our area they are typically Italian and typically mediocre.  Because it will be the first time this babysitter is looking after the Beans I don’t want to go too far in case we need to come home.

I need to find somewhere to go for dinner.  If we had our choice we would probably head into the city and use a gift certificate we have for Chiado (oh yummy fish).  Or we’d go to one of our favourite restaurants in the city Le Paradis or a million other places we love.  But where we live we haven’t been able to find a place that we love.   There are the usual standby’s of The Keg and other chain restaurants but I’d like something more, something better.  I want to savour every bite that I eat while having a great night with my hubby.

I’m hoping Google will help me find something.

  1. I think you’ll fall in love with Mt. Everest. Can’t wait to share it with you!

Thai Garden in Ajax is also fantastic.

Chef Tommy’s on Bayly (Bayly and Westney in Ajax) has superb Greek food.

And of course the Tin Mill up here in Uxbridge is renowned for their fresh ingredients, homemade desserts and and ever-changing seasonal menu.

Date nights rock. You should, ahem, stop into a hotel on the way home 😉

  2. We did Pimentos on our date night in the winter – but it’s Italian (and while not mediocre, it’s not blow-your-mind fantastic). But I liked the atmosphere.

Also enjoy going to Chatterpauls – again on Brock St – it’s got a nice vibe and the food is pretty good.

    I 2nd Carly’s comment – date nights are fun! Chicka bomp bomp… 😉

We’ve been to Pimentos so hoping for a new place. Haven’t been to Chatterpaul’s though.

      Bomp bomp chicka wow wow!

    Hi
there is a new place in Whitby called the Brock House, it is the same chef as Shrimp Cocktail and Hot Rocks. It should have opened in Feb. Maybe it’s worth a try?

Actually just read the Brock House reviews, not so great. Maybe stick to Hot Rocks in Whitby/Oshawa if you want something local and non-kid friendly!!!

Thanks for letting me know, nothing worse than going for a date night and not having something good to eat. I’ve also heard of The Port in Pickering, haven’t been there and not sure if it’s good either.

Hey Denise, a family friend said the Port was pricey and the food wasn’t too good. If you like Mexican there is Mexico Lindo in Ajax-great great food not a typical “date night” type of restaurant….decor is somewhat overwhelming! I’ll keep thinking. Oh and Thai Garden is great ..
